Hey y’all,
I muse that, last year, I observed the hallowed after-dinner tradition of loosening my belt two notches. Perhaps this year, not so much. Then, again, I have been an avid adherent to this tweet that I read a couple of months ago:
@RodLacroix
I'm not saying I'm eating a lot of crap during this quarantine, I'm just saying that my belly button has begun to socially distance itself away from the rest of my body.
But don’t let that keep you from being a part of the
SAN FERNANDO VALLEY AA UNCONVENTIONAL
AL-ANON PLANNING MEETING
Join us on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. (Meeting ID: 712 698 1743 Password: sfvalanon) We’ll open the doors at 6:00 pm for an “Eating Meeting” and start the Committee meeting at 7:00 pm.
We have a terrific lineup for the Unconventional: Two great Luncheon speakers, Opening and Closing Meetings, three Workshops, twenty-seven Marathon meetings, a comedy show and a Dance Party. We have Spanish Marathons and a Spanish speaker meeting. We’re working on Spanish translation and ASL interpretation for most meetings. And, no, we didn’t forget the Business Meeting. Can’t have a Convention without that!
We’re going to need a lot of technical support. Every meeting is going to need Hosts and Co-hosts. If you have experience hosting Zoom meetings, give us a shout. We’re planning training sessions in English and Spanish. Now, that’s exciting!
Live & Let Laugh was a great success. We accomplished the three things that I set out to do: Raise awareness for the Unconventional, reward the comics that have been hit so hard by this pandemic, and most importantly, make us all laugh until our faces hurt!
Now it’s time to build on that event. You are hereby deputized to Carry the Message of this fantastic virtual convention to everyone that will listen to you. This is such an extraordinary show of unity, recovery and service that we need to share it with all those we know that have been touched by the spectre of alcoholism. Call someone you know. Join us on Tuesday.
I can’t thank you enough for your efforts. Be well. Be safe. See ya real soon.
