Dear Convention Participant,
We’re going back to the Marriott! At long last, we will return to the Warner Center Marriott for the 46th Annual 2022 San Fernando Valley AA Convention with Al-Anon and Alateen (pending final approval) participation.
These past twenty months have been challenging and we are excited to have the convention once again in person. We’ll have all of the familiar activities: the Al-Anon Luncheon, AA Banquet, Spiritual Breakfast, Marathons, and entertainment. The fabulous speakers are back along with the comedy and, above all, the recovery.
Traditionally, our Al-Anon Committees of years past have raised and passed on startup funds for the following convention. We’ve used the money from the 2020 convention and ongoing fundraising to fund 2021 Unconventional and the 2022 convention. Being a self-supporting entity, it is now our responsibility to replenish and seed the 2023 convention.
Masking and hesitancy have impacted our in-person presence and participation in our fundraising efforts has been weak. Our outreach efforts have been minimized and our traditional methods of face-to-face revenue generation are proving to be less effective than in past years.
We have slashed our budgets and constrained unnecessary costs. Our budget for the Al-Anon program includes the costs of meetings and fundraising and buying pins, ribbons, decorations, signage, and more before the convention. And we have the costs of rooms, transportation, event tickets, and support for activities at the convention.
So, in this gratitude month, knowing that your generosity toward your convention is unbounded, we are asking for a direct contribution to the Al-Anon Planning Committee.
Please help us preserve this time-honored tradition. Give generously. The Venmo and Zelle links are below and you can always send us a check at:
6520 Platt Ave. #285
West Hills, CA 91307
Or, if you’re determined to hand us cash, come to our planning meeting at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 23rd at 8055 Reseda Blvd, Reseda CA 91335. Or simply give me a call; we will work it out.
Loving being of service,
2022 SFVAAC Al-Anon Chair
